I’m Steven Benitez

I was born and raised in Tampa, FL, and I currently live in Tallahassee, FL. Along the way, I also lived in Seattle, WA.

I got my first computer when I was 12 — a Gateway 2000 486 SX 33MHz. I found it downright magical, and my parents noticed that. They enrolled me in a local computer club where I learned to program, and I have been building ever since.

In the late 90s and early 2000s, I spent a lot of time on message boards and building websites and web applications, where I crossed paths with Infopop. Infopop built the Ultimate Bulletin Board, which set the standard for message boards at the time. Their forums were everywhere. I built rapport with them, which gave me the opportunity to learn many technologies that would otherwise not have been readily available to me, and I eventually moved out to Seattle, WA, to work for them.

In 2012, I spent a few years hyperfocusing on photography. You can see some of my photos on 500px.
